Vikings
SEASON
2019
In 2019 the Vikings compete in the AFL and the ECTC

Having kicked off the AFL season with a win over the Prague Black Panthers, the Dacia Vienna Vikings have a tight schedule ahead of them as they compete this year in the Austrian Football League (AFL) as well as in the European Club Team Competition (ECTC). After several years of not playing in any international contest, the Vikings are back on the big European football stage. With 12 games already set in the regular season, another four could be added to their schedule by reaching playoffs and the finals.
The Viennese men in purple are hungry to add their 15th national title and their 6th European title to the already impressive winning history of the club.
Stay tuned and follow the Vikings 2019 season! Four games are broadcasted and streamed live by ORF Sport +. Another four games are streamed live by Streamster.

„We want to offer all our 700 athlets the best possible surroundings so that every Football Player and every Cheerleader is eager to pratice with the Vikings and perform as a Viking.“

There are various ways to join the Dacia Vienna Vikings. We organize at least twice a year an open try-out. We also installed the Vikings Rookie School where kids and adults can join our football and cheer programs all year round. For those who want to join us without being an active athlet, we have a large number of Vikings volunteers whose contributions to the club are highly appreciated.

„We strive to offer each player and each football fan a sportive event of high standard. A Vikings game should be seen as one of the most attractive game days in Europe with great entertainment for the entire family - on and off the field.“
The Dacia Vikings AFL game days are held at the Stadium Hohe Warte, a multi-purpose stadium with a maximum capacity of 7.200 visitors. Halftime shows, an extended pregame area (with fan activities, merchandising stands & a variety of American food trucks), pre-kickoff fireworks as well as an after-game party area are turning a Vikings game into an unforgettable memory.

The Vikings Football Facility

In the heart of the 11th Viennese district, the Football Centre Ravelin is located. Built in 2007, the Ravelin is the practice facility of all Vikings football teams (men, women, flag and youth teams). It is also the stadium where all games of our ladies team, the Vikings Superseniors and our young Vikings (U11, U13, U15 ans U18) are played. Several other Viennese clubs - such as the Vienna Warlords Football Cub or the Dark Angels Flag Football Club - are renting the facility for practices and games. The Ravelin is also the location for training camps of the Austrian national teams (men, juniors, ladies). Due to the partly critical condition of the facility the municipality of Vienna decided to
renovate the fields and locker rooms in 2019.

Welcome to the Dacia Vikings Football Academy

„We are always looking for new talents who want to join our Football Academy. Our alumnus Bernhard Raimann, who received a full scholarship of the Western Michigan University and started as a Tight End Freshman this season, is the best example of our qualified dual career system.“ (Georg Zivko, Head of the VFA)
Established in 2009, Dacia Vikings Football & Cheerleading Academy provides young athletes an ideal academic and athletic development. The VFA emphasizes on sports and school in a dual career principle. Currently 86 male and female students between 14 and 19 years old are attending the Vikings Academy. International students are more than welcome since a boarding school is also offered. The Vikings Academy is part of the public highschool ‚Ballsport Gymnasium Wien‘.

From photographers to team moms, from commercial crew to groundkeepers, from equipment crew to filming practice tapes - the majority of duties within the Dacia Vikings organization are carried out by volunteers - our highly appreciated Vikings Volunteers. As an amateur football club we rely on the time, effort and contributions that is given to us by voluntarism. We used our video show #KnowYourVikings to say Thank you to many volunteers and to put the spotlight on the Vikings Volunteers.
